We have 2 cars a 2002 ford Taurus with 87,000 miles that is falling apart but she can drive it. The other is a 2005 ford mustang with 56,000 miles that I drive and she can't. Both are automatic, she's just short and the mustang is too low. she wants to trade in the mustang and buy an compact SUV and keep the Taurus for several more years but the gas pump reader is broke, the signal doesn't stay put, and the steering wheel doesn't turn properly. The mustang is practically new, it has the original tires and just a few dents and scratches. It hasn't been in any accidents, but it has problems. The problem lies mostly with the gear shift. It gets stuck in winter and and when changing the gear from one drive to another it goes into neutral. Doesn't do it when driving.
I'm not sure what to tell her, I'm trying to convince her to trade in the Taurus and get a new car but she's convinced it is a better deal to trade the mustang. I don't think it's a good idea to trade the car that works instead of the car that doesn't, ultimately it's her decision but I want her to make the right decision.
What's your opinion, Trade Taurus or Mustang for a new car?
